Notes

Left Liverpool, England on April 29, 1875, aboard the SS Scandinavian, of the Montreal Ocean Steamship Company. The ship stopped at Londonderry, Ireland, and landed at Quebec City on May 11, 1875, at 2:30pm. The ship's list showed that Samuel was 23 years old was listed as a farmer. He travelled with 4 of his brothers: William (22 years), Breary (20), Charles (17), Richard (12). In Ottawa, he first worked in his brother's bakery, before starting the Victoria Bakery, at Bank & Laurier Streets (in The Slinn Block - the keystone is still on the building).
